Gp referred to gynaecologist as cervix abnormal

Hello all - I am looking for advice

I have been refered to gynaecologist as my cervix was checked because I have been suffering from abnormal bleeding between periods since jan  and periods stop / are very short. Gp checked my cervix and it was sore for the first time as I haven't felt it to hurt before during smear tests in past but it was painful this time . Also she refered me because there was blood on cervix and also there were some changes so she said it's best to be checked by gyno.

I am so worried ladies ..I am single on my own with two kids and anxious and worried about results . A swab was taken in the meantime. Also - I suffer from endometriosis for over 10 years but never had irregular bleeding. I am 40 so wondering if it's hormonal but i don't think so I am worried it's something more sinister like cancer !
can anyone advise and be honest and let me know what it sounds like or help ? (My ex cheated multiple times so I am wondering if it's been caused by that as cc can take years for some to show)

thank you
