Feeling anxious

Hi all,

I just spoke to the GP. I've been referred for a hysteroscopy. During an Ultrasound scan they found a fibroid and a probable polyp, and the lining of my womb was very thick for that time in my cycle, so they will have a good look and do some biopsies. Feeling on edge. Kind of just want a hysterectomy now. I have horrendous periods and have been treated 3 times for Anaemia (including currently) in 2 years. Had a scan 2 years ago and no thickened lining or polyp was mentioned then. Only fibroid. I'm 50 and pre menopausal. How long after the Hysteroscopy will I receive results?

  • Hello Chelleypop and welcome to the CC forum.

Waiting for tests is always tough but fingers crossed it won't be long before you can have your hysteroscopy. I'm not sure if you've had this procedure before but if not you can read up on it just here.

The pandemic does seem to be affecting the waiting times for results at the moment so it's probably best to ask the department that are carrying out your hysteroscopy how long it will be as it can also differ depending on what part of the UK you're in.

Hopefully some of our members will be along soon to share their experiences and offer their support.

    Kind regards,

  • Thanks Steph.

I lost my dad to prostate cancer in his 50s and I keep thinking I hope my kids are not going to have to go through that. It's really nice having this forum for support.
