Worried I have lymphoma

I have read through many of these forums for a while and I have really been struggling recently whilst I wait for tests and just need somewhere to write down my thoughts.

I've had a lump in my cheek for I'd guess a couple of years. It hasn't really grown but it is hard, moveable and more prominent I think? I've also noticed a very small, non visible nodule behind my ear (about 1cm in diameter) and recently another about the same size in my neck. I've had daily breathlessness and chest pain (negative covid test, normal ECG, chest x-ray and routine bloods) but I just feel completely not myself and have done for a while.

Went to the GP last year about the lump and she completely fobbed me off and said nothing was there (after seeing me for about 30 seconds... Literally). My dentist mentioned it in January and recommended I get a second opinion. Have lost all faith in my GP due to a few bad experiences so decided to go private as I decided it was worth it for the peace of mind.

Been referred to a specialist who wants to do an ultrasound and fine needle aspiration but I'm waiting for the appointment date and I'm so so worried. I keep trying not to consult Dr Google but it's so hard...

I'm a natural worrier anyway and I feel like I just can't function at the moment.

Anyone have any advice? xx

  • Hello h94,

I'm sorry about your experience with your GP, but I hope you get a date for your next appointment soon. You might find the information here useful ahead of your appointment. When you are worried, it can be tempting to look for answers online, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better. There are also some tips here, which can help you cope while you are waiting for an appointment or for results.

    I hope this helps,
