Worries about oral cancer

Hi All,

Just reaching out for some advice and to see if anyone has had any similar experiences.
I've had a strange, dry scratchy feeling in my throat for a few weeks. I've spoken to the doctor and they weren't sure what it was and didn't seem concerned they prescribed some nasal spray to see if that helps.

I then noticed my tongue was very yellow/white particularly ag the back. I exmplaoned mh symptoms to the pharmacist and they advised to treat as oral thrush which I'm doing now.

I did also have a lump just below my earlobe, along my jawline a few weeks prior which has since gone down and I was told it was a cyst.

I'm 28 and so struggle with health anxiety and sometimes it is worse than others and I sipppse my mind is just running away with me and I've convinced myself it's probably some sort of oral cancer!

  • Hi Csmithx-x,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I would suggest keeping an eye on this and, if it doesn't improve in the timeframe you've been given by the doctor and pharmacist, to make another appointment to enquire further. If you have some sort of infection then it may be that these things are linked and will hopefully clear up soon. If not, as I say you can always see the GP again.

    All the best,
