6 + years post menopause

Hi

Wondered if anyone has been in same situation.

At 1 + year post menopause I had a huge period. Had biopsy taken. First result inconclusive so back again and second one came back fine. Think I had some thickening of womb.

Move on to now which is 5 years since last scare and I am bleeding slightly again. I have had achy legs for a while now and see this can be related. Beyond terrified this time.

So my question is , have other people had a gap like this and been ok ?

  • Hi Martin.

I too have been postmenopause for 6 years aged 61yrs.

Started spotting since September and was referred for a biopsy  which came back clear and also have thickened endometrium (7mm) then was discharged.

Had to return to GP in Nov as still spotting every week, was then referred to a gynaecologist, (had to wait 3 months for an appt as covid delays), there was no examination she just referred me back to original consultant (just waiting for appt)for a Hysteroscopy and suggested a Mirena coil.

Not keen on having a coil as my hormones are all over the place and think this will add to the already hormonal spots and period pains I am experiencing.

I know this is all worrying and feel for you, but it does need to be checked out, so go back if you are worried.

    Sorry about the rant.

  • Hi I had marina coil years ago to try and control heavy periods. Worst thing I ever did. It made me bleed everyday and pile on weight . I felt horrendous so ended up pulling it out myself as doctor wanted me to keeping in for longer. I'm going to phone doctors in the morning and I guess I'm going to have to have biopsy again etc. Just feel a bit doom and gloom this time . It's so scary.
