Double wait for results, endometrial and mole removal

Back in January I had a Hysteroscopy/endometrial biopsy taken, it was the worst pain I have ever felt , no pain relief, told to take pain killers before procedure which I did, they had no effect. I was not warned about this pain or offered pain relief. Results came back showing atypia so had to go through it again, but this time was under GA as I could not go through that again. More endometrial biopsies taken and currently climbing the walls waiting for my results, been nearly 3 weeks now.

A week ago I had a 5mm troublesome mole removed from the side of my back around the waistline, results will be in 1-2 weeks. I was not prepared for the chunk they removed and the following pain and soreness. I really was ignorant and hadn't looked into the procedure as I was still getting over the GA and Hyteroscopy, I react badly to GA and had to go back to hospital because my throat swelled up and I needed antibiotics. Anyway, I have followed the care of the mole wound but this morning when I removed the dressing there was a gaping hole about 15mm across and round! The internal stitches have not held the wound together. I rang the hospital and have to return tomorrow but went to my local surgery where a nurse cleaned and redressed the wound. I am so unhappy about this on top of feeling anxious waiting for two sets of results. Surely more stitches should have been used for this part of the body that is constantly under torsion? Now this hole cannot be re-stitched Ive been told and it will take a long time to heal as the skin is apart and it heals from the base up. Has this happened to anyone else and what did you do?

Apologies for the long post and thank you for taking the time to read.

  • Hi,

I'm sorry you are dealing with two worrying problems & that the mole excision surgery is causing you more worry. I, personally, haven't had this problem but I know a couple of people whose excision biopsies were so deep that the wound had to be packed rather than stitched. I'm sure that when you go for your dressing's appointment today they will do something to address the problem but it will take much longer to heal. Good luck with your appointment and your results. Please let us know how you get on,

    Angie (melanoma patient)
