Hello, I had an urgent MRI and it's been two weeks. I had a telephone appointment sent through after it but it says on it it was sent out to me the day before the MRI. So i phoned the hospital to see if i could get results to be told that because it's an urgent referral it has to be discussed by a multidisciplinary team and that i would hear after that has happened. I think sometimes follow up appointments are logged just to have them in the system and additional appointments can be made as and when. I hope you get good news when your results are back.

I was referred on the 2ww pathway for a neck lump just before Christmas. I had an initial ultrasound, then got referred to ENT who did an endoscopy & FNA, they suspected a bronchial cyst. I was still recommend an MRI which I had. The wait was horrendous & took longer as was over the holiday season. Anyway received that dreaded call to come in to see the consultant for the results as they do not give over the phone or by letter, only to hear that the fna was inadequate & the mri inconclusive! I have now been for a second ultrasound & FNA. Again still painfully waiting for results.

I have had no other symptoms apart from the neck lump which has reduced in size. 

ive been told the waiting is the worst & I agree with that.

I hope you get good news when you finally do get results. Before Christmas? Seems a very long time to be in limbo. I'm still waiting but it's only been a few weeks since I initially phoned the GP.

Its been a difficult journey which continues. Around 2 months from when the GP put me on the 2ww. The consultant delayed the 2nd ultrasound & FNA to see if the lump goes down due to the inconclusive mri as the team had mixed reviews whether something nasty or something infectious although all my bloods were clear.

I think anyone assigned to the 2ww gets a multidisciplinary team to ensure correct care and attention.

Ive heard it normally takes 7-10 days to get results so hopefully you should get them any day.

did the conusultant tell you that he suspected a branchia cyst after your ultrasound?

That's what happened with me, hopefully the MRI scan will just confirm this diagnosis?

Still not heard anything though and it's been 11 days.. was told originally that i would recieve the results by Tuesday...

Oh, i didn't have a consultation after my ultrasound, I was reffered for an MRI but the consultant radiographer said it looked like a branchial cyst?

He didn't do a biopsy as he said it was likely fluid-filled... I am worried i will have to have it removed for them to check for cells.

It sounds good news if the radiologist said it was fluid filled and didn't require a biopsy. If they do need to take a biopsy you only feel a small scratch & it's a little uncomfortable for a minute so nothing to worry about.
