Ovarian/ by AE issues

Hi there, I'm 44 and in Cerelle pill. I had a small dermoid ovarian cyst removed a year and a half ago. For over 6 months now I have had a lot of irregular bleeding abs at the moment my period is still here two and a half weeks in! I had an ultrasound in October and I believe that there were no concerns. They did mention that there was fluid in the Douglas pouch (between the womb and bowel). I was led to believe that it was nothing to worry about although my GP had said that I could have Pelvic Imfammatory Disease!

However my symptoms have got worse and I am awaiting a hysteroscopy - Covid delayed it. My recent smear was fine.
My iron levels are low now and today I've been put on tablets.
I am so worried as the symptoms I have all point towards ovarian cancer.

I have severe bloating (I mean constant!!), constipation, dirrahea, dizziness, have to wee a lot, pain in ovaries, a very unusual swollen tummy, pressure down below, heartburn, not much appetite - although I am putting weight on despite exercising! Has anyone ever had anything like this? Should I be worried? Could a cyst grow in 4 months or could they have missed something on the ultrasound in October?

so many questions and thank you in advamce to anyone who responds. So appreciated.

  • Hello Jo7249

I'm sorry to hear about the ongoing health problems that you have and that your investigations have been delayed due to Covid. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about things.

Have you spoken to your GP about your concerns? They should have access to the ultrasound report from October and may be able to confirm some of the information to you. If you've not spoken with them recently then I'd encourage you to get in touch.

Alternatively, you might like to give our team of nurses a call. I'm sure they will be able to help with some information and support. If you'd like to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that you have some answers soon and things improve for you.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
