Breast ‘thickness’ and small lump

Hiya

i am just wondering if anyone has had similar symptoms as me. Just a little worried as it's the unknown I guess but trying not to panic.

im 30, and have a small pea size lump under my left breast. It's been there 6+ months and finally went to the GP last week. She referred me just to be safe.

i had my appointment today and the breast clinic. She did a physical exam and said the small lump is probably nothing, however, she can feel some thickness i. My left breast and has booked me in for an ultrasound.

looking for similar situations so I can try and guess (I know everyone is different) at what this may turn out to be. I have a partner and 10 year old son and don't want to worry that unnecessarily.

thank you in advance, stay safe everyone xx

    Hi Abbiemai,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I am sorry to hear about your symptoms, but glad to hear that you have followed up on these and are getting them investigated. It sounds hopeful that your consultant at the breast clinic didn't feel that there was anything of concern today, but we can never be totally sure, so it should be more reassuring to have that ultrasound to make absolutely certain.

There really is no way to guess the outcome prior to having a scan. I have had two bouts of cancer in the past 11 years. I have also had a number of false alarms. On all occasions my surgeon thought that I had cancer, but this only proved to be the case with 50% of the scans I've had. You will also find that there are other causes of lumps besides cancer. Many women have cysts or fibrous thickening, but these lesions are benign.

Have you got a date for your ultrasound yet? If not, I hope that you get it soon, as this is always a worrying wait. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Here's hoping for good news.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
