29 and lump found in breast.

Hello,

I'm new on here, so bare with me.
I am 29 year old, I had a pain in my right boob on Wednesday and Thursday, I didn't really think much of it, Saturday I thought I'd have a feel, the pain had gone by this point, but sure enough I found a pea sized lump near the bottom of my boob.

I managed to get in to see a nurse today, I went prepared that it was nothing maybe just a cyst at most, expected to be in, checked and that would be it..... Nope.... the nurse found another lump at the top of my boob. So has referred me to breast clinic on 2ww, after my appointment the nurse phoned me to say due to my age the referral has came up as non-urgent but I should still get an appointment in 2 week or so.

I am absolutely passed myself with worry, it's flawed me that I went into the appointment completely positive and now I just feel physically sick thinking of the 'what ifs'.

I just wanted to know if anyone else had been in a similar situation, and well, I don't know what else, some reassurance maybe?

Thank you x

  • Hello,

Sorry to hear your news and that you are finding it difficult.

I'm in a similar position with smooth hard pea-sized lump (outer lower part of breast) and went to the GP today. I've also had a bit of pain. I think the feeling around for the lump has also made it feel more tender. I've been referred to the breast clinic but am over 40 so should be seen within two weeks. I know that most GPS don't dismiss breast lumps and will always be cautious which is a good thing. My GP said they 'over-refer'.

I'm trying so hard to be matter of fact as I know such a high percentage of lumps don't end up being cancerous.  But I think it's natural human behaviour to worry. It's annoying as it's always there on your mind and drags you down!

All I would say having been through a couple other things before and trying to tell myself now! ....I'm staying right away from googling, I'm trying to not worry about what-ifs as there is nothing I can do to change the situation, I know from friends that most of the time these lumps turn out not to be cancerous but always best to get checked so doing the right thing.

Really hope it is all ok for you and you have done the right thing getting it checked and now followed up further. We will be ok. ️

  • Hi both

My 26 yo daughter has just been through an agonising wait, firstly to be seen at a breast clinic and then for the results of a biopsy. Like yourselves she found some breast changes ( thickening in her upper right quadrant) and her gp sent a 2ww referral.

I'm not gonna lie the waiting was horrendous and she did not cope well at all but fortunately the results were benign as she has a fibroadenoma

One thing that did help me to cope was reading posts on here especially the ones I could relate to, such as the one I am posting now.  I hope that it gives you the same hope . xx

  • Hello AsilV,

I have found the posts on here very reassuring as many of them have turned out benign which is helping. I am so pleased you and your daughter had good news from her appointment, you instantly think the worst and it's awful.

How long did your daughter have to wait for her appointment? I'm trying to keep myself busy, I do work but my manager has been lovely, and would rather me be off while I'm waiting for my appointment as my mind would be elsewhere and with working in theatres I know she's right but I would've much rather have been working to keep my mind occupied.

    Xx
