Breast lump

Hi i have had 2 breast lumps before, one in 2006 and one in 2016 and was told that they were fibrous and that i had fibrous breasts so likely to get more.

Over the years ive had a few come up, ive kept a check on them but after a few months they go as quick as they appear.

In March my uncle died and my aunt started showing signs of being confused, then we had lock down so things where kinda up in the air. Then my aunt was told she had breast cancer and went in to hospital. Sadly she then died in July aged 80.

Well while that was all going on i found a large lump in my breast and kept a eye on it.

I suffer with agoraphobia and social phobia so going out is a real struggle for me, ive not been out alone for over 16 years.

To add to the anxiety i also have severe anxiety about leaving my dog home alone as shes nearly blind and i have OCD so have panic attacks about leaving her and thinking something will happen to her so if i need to go somewhere i need someone to come with me and someone to stay at my home with her.... i do have a husband but neither of us drive either.

Most my family have died and i only have a brother and sister in law living near me.

Anyway because of all the things that make it even harder to get to appointments i left the lump... checked on it every few days and it never changed size.

Anyway fastforward to 3 weeks ago and it suddenly started growing fast, so i contacted the GP and was given a appointment at the breast clinic 2 weeks later, in that time the lump had grown from under my nipple to above it!

Had ultrasound and mammogram and something was seen, they mentioned its a very large lump and they put a marker in my breast .. told to wait for results.

Just got letter saying i have a appointment to see a dr who is a oncoplastic surgeon on the 2nd but no other details.

The lump is still growing very fast.

I wondered if anyone else has had a very fast growing large lump?

  • Hello SaraBev,

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. It can be worrying waiting for results, but we have some tips here. It might help to write down any questions you might have ahead of your upcoming appointment. You mentioned you have anxiety and agoraphobia there are some great resources on the Anxiety UK and NHS websites. There is support out there to help calm your mind and boost your wellbeing, so I hope some of this helps.

    Best wishes,
