Enlarged ovary and neck lump linked?

Hi my 17 year old daughter went to the gp 6 weeks ago about a pain in her lower right abdomen.  Got sent for an US  and blood test, bloods came back fine but the US (which she only had this morning) came back with an enlarged ovary, so big the radiologist thought it was her kidney!!

Unrelated to this (possiby/possibly not?) She felt a lump on her neck, under her right ear, hard, about 1cm, been there now around 5 weeks, gp says lymph node. she has an appointment re this at the neck lump clinic on friday

She also had glandular fever 2 years ago.

Has anyone else had all these symptoms together?

Could they be entirely coincidental and nothing to worry about? (she asks hopefully!)

Should we bring up the ovary at the neck lump clinic?

I keep telling her not to worry whilst hiding my own

  • Hi Tallydms,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand this must be a bit worrying and unsettling and I know the uncertainty and waiting for information is never easy.

It's good to hear this is being checked out and that you have an appointment coming up. There's no harm in mentioning the enlarged ovary at the appointment on Friday - hopefully the specialist will already be aware but if not it makes sense to bring it up.

I'm not sure if you have any next steps in place after the ultrasound, but I hope you're able to find out more about all this soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
