Terrified about bone cancer due to lump on side of humerus

Hello everyone

I'm a 19 gear old male who found a hard lump on the lower left underside of my humerus - a little way above my elbow.

I'm speaking to a doctor about it on Wednesday and will then hopefully book a physical appointment ASAP.

I know the chances of cancer are low, but it does feel like the lump is directly on the bone. Of course doctor Google has now got me absolutely terrified and I don't know how to handle the wait.

Unfortunately I get terrible medical anxiety, and following finding the lump my arm has began to ache and I've been feeling terrible nauseus. It's just hard to tell whether the aching is due to my anxiety + the fact that I've been touching and moving my arm around so much - or actually something to worry about.

I hope anyone who happens to read this is well, I have nobody to talk to about this since people aren't taking me seriously

  • Hello AnxietyPerson,

I see from your post that you are worried about some symptoms you have so you've done the right thing by booking a chat with a doctor on Wednesday. Having some questions written down could help you feel more prepared. There are some tips here to help you get the best out of your telephone appointment. When you are worried that you may have cancer, it can be tempting to look for answers online, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better. And the only person that can diagnose you is your doctor.

    I hope this is helpful,
