does anyone know what these symptoms could mean?

i'm 16 year old and i'm extremely worried i have a brain tumour or a form of cancer. i have been told by everyone that it's probably just health anxiety due to my anxiety which i have had for years however i have never had any tests or anything. my symptoms include headaches, loss of vision and eye pain including squinting my eyes, twitching of my eyes, neck pain and also nausea, weakness and dizzyness. i have also had tingling and numbness in my hands, legs, stomach and face. i keep bringing these up however i'm told these are most likely symptoms of my anxiety however i really don't think it is . i am aware i'm naming loads of symptoms and i'm not entirely sure if this is relevant but recently i have been having toothache and i even coughed up bits of blood recently. do these seem like symptoms of a brain tumour or a form of cancer. i wouldn't ask and i'm sorry for asking but i'm just getting told it's health anxiety however i'm really worried that it is something like this and it's going un noticed. thankyou very much

  • Hi emilymas,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear of your worries with this. Health anxiety can cause a number of issues and uncomfortable feelings, but equally I understand it's difficult when you feel like you're being dismissed because of this.

If you haven't yet seen a doctor then there's no harm in making an appointment. If you do this, I'd suggest making a list of any symptoms you've noticed and when you first noticed them, along with any changes. You can also use the appointment as an opportunity to talk through any anxiety you have as you may also be able to get some support for that at the same time.

Advice from a doctor may provide some peace of mind. In the meantime, the NHS also has some good resources on looking after mental health via the Every Mind Matters page.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
