Reffered for urgent ultrasounds but Chest X Ray normal

I have been experiencing persistent itch on right side of groin for at least a year and a half now. Std negative and no rash or skin changes in that area. Dr prescribed steroid creams etc on and off but has had no effect. The itch is severe but comes and goes and seems to be worse at night.

I've also had night sweats on and off for the past year and when I have them my sheets and clothing are soaked and I don't feel hot and it wakes me up. Been feeling so tired for the same amount of time also and blood tests showed low vitamin d, low iron and borderline under active thyroid which doesn't require treatment and also abnormal liver function. I haven't lost weight and I don't have a visible lump however was diagnosed with bartholin cyst and reffered to gynecology. I have felt small lumps on inner thighs when checking my lymph nodes but that could just be fatty tissue?

My doctor reffered me for chest x Ray (as a precaution as I have no chest symptoms). I had my chest x Ray last week and today when I called the receptionist told me it said "results normal" but to see gp for full results. I have my pelvic, abdominal and liver ultrasound next week. I am worried about possible lymphoma but does a normal chest x ray mean this is highly unlikely? Or would it only show in that x Ray if it was specifically in that area?

What's worried me more if that I received a letter today saying that I've been added to the extremely clinically vulnerable list for covid and have to shield now until further notice. I called my gp for information and they told me they have "no idea" why that may be? I can't sleep and have such anxiety I have 2 young children a 4 and 1 year old and am so worried and fearing the worst. I guess I'm just looking for insight from anyone who has had similar symptoms, a diagnosis or is going through something similar or may know more than me. Thanks in advance to anyone able to help me x

  • Hello Rachenda,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum and wish you the very best of luck for your ultrasound next week. It's excellent news that your chest X Ray is normal and I hope the GP can tell you more about the full results and that after you have had the other tests, you will get a bit more clarity on all this.

I can understand why being suddenly added to the extremely vulnerable list for covid has made you worried and why you would want some answers. It's surprising too that your GP was unable to tell you why that may be and I think it is important that you find out soon why you've suddenly been added to that list. Try and talk to your GP again or to another doctor and insist that you would like to know why you've been added to that list, whether this is linked to the fact you are currently undergoing investigations? Do mention that this is causing you extreme anxiety and you are strugling to sleep so you would really like to know more about this.

I hope that you get some answers soon and that you will hear from some of our members who have been through a similar situation before.

Keeping everything very tightly crossed for you!

    Best wishes,
