Ca125 tested after irregular periods.

Hiya,

I'm new here, last new year 2020 I had an ultrasound after suffering with very heavy periods, spotting and generally irregular period's, the ultra sound found something, I then went for hysteroscopy in the January 2020, this is a camera into the womb, I have had 2 csections, the gynaecologist says the scar is possibly causing these problem's. She took a swab which later came back clear, in the July 2020 I had my routine smear which also came back clear. Now a year after the irregular, heavy periods have started again, I take tranexamic acid for 5 days to help reduce the flow, but I've now been on a period for over 4 weeks and was sent for blood tests, everything came back Normal except the iron was low, the Ca125 was 54. I am not pre menopausal I'm aged 45.

I'm worried now, I don't have any other symptoms, back pain, bloating etc.

I'm now being urgently reffered, can anyone help me to stop stressing out?

  • Hello Ejc76,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long to find out more. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you and I hope that you get some definite answers soon.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine,

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you so much for your reply, I've tried not to overthink it, I've kept myself pre occupied over the weekend and fingers crossed I'll hear from the hospital tomorrow to arrange an appointment.

    I'll keep you posted xx

  • As my own CA125 levels have been raised I've been reading that before menopause it can be raised for numerous reasons including menstruating. So, although you have an urgent referral because of it they have to do tests to exclude things. I hope your doctor gets to the bottom of what's causing the bleeding soon and that it's easily treatable x

  • Thanks lyns21, I'm just waiting now for the hospital to contact me. Thanks for your reply. I was on an eveasting period so it could be licking up on that, no wonder I'm low in iron.... All the ood loss .
