Not sure if to be worried about being seen so quickly

Hello

I felt a lump about 3-4 weeks ago pea shaped lump in left boob by nipple, and went to the doctors Wednesday 17th for a check up,and on checking she found the lump straight away and a harder lump beside it, and when I when I said to her I fault I was imagining it she said i was not, i had a phone call straight away the same day for a hospital appointment for the 1st March  so I am a little concerned at how quickly i am being seen.

I have always had very lumpy breast and have had hard fatty tissues   removed from under my arms, but this has worried me

  • Hello Tru and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry about the lump you've found but it's good you got this checked by your GP.

There could be a number of reasons for the quick turnaround for your hospital appointment, one being an urgent referral which you'll see here means that anyone based in England who is referred this way should be seen by a specialist within 2 weeks.

I hope this eases your mind slightly but I'm sure some of our members who are in a similar position will offer their support and advice to you soon.

I also hope this information I've found will help you prepare for your appointment on the 1st March.

    Kind regards,

  • I wouldn't try and worry to much, I had a similar situation last year with a breath lump and I was seen by the breat clinic and had an ultra sound within 10 days. I think it's all down to individual NHS trusts and departments and how quickly they see people along with the 2ww. As a comparison my 2ww refferal to ENT took 3 days from GP refferal to see a specialist and have an appointment booked with a surgeon tomorrow all within 2 weeks this time so I'd try not to worry about being seen so quickly. Just be happy you should get your answers either way a lot sooner
