Lump on groin/labia

Hi looking for some advice please.

i have a pea sized hard lump on my upper inner thigh, right in the crease where my thigh meets my outer labia. At first I thought it was maybe just an ingrown hair so I left it, after a month or so it was still there so I went doctors. They told me it was just a cyst and would go on it's own within a month. Well it didn't, it's been nearly 2 years since that first doctors appointment, they're still insisting it's just a cyst. They've offered me no biopsy or minor op to remove it. Surely if it was a cyst it would have gone by now!? Last time I went the doctor basically told me to quit my worrying and that it's just my anxiety (I have anxiety disorder). That was around 6 months ago now and I'm too scared to go back complaining about it yet again.

im worried sick it's something more serious, maybe a swollen lymph node or something I'm not sure. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou!

  • Hi,

my lump is in exact same place. GP said defo not cyst or abscess after feeling it but that she wasn't sure what it was so I've to sit back and keep an eye on it changing. Then go back if changes. Feel like I'm obsessing over it. I think it's got slightly larger but starting to think I'm imagining that it's growing.

im long overdue my smear so I'm going to get booked in for that and maybe see if I can get nurses opinion on the lump while I'm there.

you read stories from so many people saying trust your instincts and insist on getting further tests but I feel bad got not believing that it's nothing to worry about.

I know the nhs probably don't have the funds to do unnecessary tests but a negative result of some sort is what I think I need to settle my mind. I'd much rather have a test done and it turns out to be nothing than leave it untested for it to turn out to be something and I didn't push for checks. Hopefully if I get nurse to check she can reassure me if she also believes it to be nothing.

I would say though if you're not settling there is no harm in asking for a second opinion x
