Lung nodules, ongoing observation, changes, additions

Mum has had radical treatment for bladder cancer 5 years ago, with ongoing xrays and CT scans. Lung nodules first observed 2 years ago, with wait and see/monitoring approach. Most recent scan shows changes - increased size plus additional nodules now showing on other lung. Has been invited (with some urgency) for PET scan with a 'bring a friend' request for the results appointment.

Part of me thinks yay, she's already in the system so they've spotted changes early, part of me thinks uh-oh they've seen changes which Dr Google tells me are bad.

Does anyone have any experience of the likely plan from now on?

  • Hello Strongerthanithought,

Welcome to our forum! First of all, don't trust anything Dr Google tells you. It's difficult to know really what it all means but as you say it's good that she is already in the system and that they have been monitoring your mum since she had her bladder cancer 5 years ago so hopefully any changes will have been spotted due to the regular scans she has been having

I hope that her PET scan sheds some light on what is going on and that she won't have to wait too long for her results.

Keeping everything crossed for her and I hope that you will hear from others here who have had a similar experience. Do give us an update if you get a chance after she gets her PET scan results.

    Best wishes,
