Lump on windpipe?

Hi after rinsing every doctor Google search I've drawn a blank so I've come here to see if I might get some answers.

So I have a hard lump on what feels like the back of my windpipe on the outside. It's just under my chin but definitely connected to my wind pipe so fairly certain it's not a lymth node. It's not painful but growing to the point that I can feel it sort of getting trapped when I move my neck.

I'm 30 and mainly fit (kinda) I'm always tired and a smoker (I know).

I went to the Dr's yesterday and he has referred me for a ultrasound as he said my thyroid is also quite enlarged.

Anyone have any experience? I can find lots about lumps inside the throat but nothing connected to the outside and not on the skins surface or just under the skin.

Thanks

  • So update.... I'm not sure if anyone has even seen my original post but I went to the gp on Wednesday and I have my ultrasound appointment booked for Monday. Now it's great that I have an appointment so soon but I'm freaking out how quickly its happened. Especially during covid? It's made me worry even more than I was before.

  • Hello,

I understand how you feel about going to hospital appointments during covid but I would like to reassure you  that although I had the same concerns, I have felt safe at all my appointments. All guidelines adhered to, staff very friendly and reassuring. Definately safer there than in a supermarket

I hope your appointment goes well

     Good luck
