Lump attached to my thyroid :(

Hi I discovered a lump about a week and half ago on the base of my neck ..I went to the doctors and he sent me for an urgent blood test which I had the next day.. he also arranged an urgent ultrasound scan which I have on Friday.. my blood results came back and he rang me and said my crp is 39.. but I also need to have another blood test tomz to check for diabetes as my fasting levels were 6.1 only just over.. and I'm also vitamin d lacking. I'm worries about the lump as cancer runs right the way through my family from my great grandparents:( .. I know I have to wait and see but that harder said then done.. any advice would be great about lumps in next.. t.i.a xx

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Jodie1978.

I'm sorry to hear that a lump was found attached to your thyroid, and that has caused some concern.

Hopefully, other forum members who have gone through a similar experience will come along shortly to talk with you and offer support, as chatting with those who can relate does seem to help.

While you wait for your test results, feel free to ring out our friendly team of nurses and ask any question you may have. They're available on this phone number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Hi I have had lumps on my thyroid twice first time on my right parathyroid gland in 2004 I had blood tests my thyroid levels were normal however it was getting larger so I had the gland removed it turned out that it was benign  then in 2017 I was found to have a retrosternal goitre on my left thyroid had biopsy's done it is benign but because it's relatively slow growing they are not operating  what I am trying to say is most of the time they are benign  so try not to worry too much harder to do than say keep strong
