Suspected bowel cancer

Hi all

I am 37 and currently waiting my CT scan result after having a colonoscopy where they found a 2cm stricture in my descending colon and some polyps in the sigmoid. They believe the stricture to be a tumour.
My biopsy result came back as suspicious so I was sent for a CT Scan, my local hospital is rather small so the doctor has asked my larger hospital to look at the results of both the biopsy and the CT scan so I am now just await for the results to confirm if it is cancer or something else.
Do you think the doctor wanting the larger hospital to look at the result is actually a MDT?
He says the team normally meet on a Friday so do you think I will hear from the team soon (my biopsy was taken on 29th jan and my CT scan was on 15th feb)?

Thanks

  • Have you got a number for the consultants secretary. You could give them a ring & see if she has any idea or if she can chase it up. Hope everything goes well for you

  • Hi bex44

Thanks for replying, my GI consultant actually got in touch with me today to let me know that my results were in so he was passing them on to the team in the larger hospital, again he told me that they meet on Fridays.
I pushed him a bit about the results and he said that all signs were pointing toward the tumour being cancerous but in any case the tumour will need to be surgically remove.
I am hoping that next week I will get the official diagnosis and a plan of action for moving forward
