Possible lymphoma

Hi, I'm 24 and recently was admitted to hospital with upper abdominal pain. I was told it was gastritis however the ultrasound showed my spleen was enlarged and has lesions on it. I then had a CT scan with contrast  which they then said is in line with lymphoma. All my bloods are normal however my HB was low and the MCV was also low. My IgG IgM were raised.
It's been 2 weeks I'm still waiting for haemotolgy to come back to the surgical team with their decision on what to do. So I'm paying to see a haematology consultant privately tomorrow but I'm stuck on what questions I should be asking.

  • Hi Leesha and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry no-one was able to get back to you before you saw the haematology consultant yesterday but I hope it went well and they were able to answer the questions you did have.

If you still have anything playing on your mind since seeing them then you're welcome to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I really hope you're not waiting too much longer to find out what happens next.

    All the best,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Hi, I'm still none the wiser as to what is wrong. He explained that the lesions are the concern so I need further bloods to rule out infections, I may also need another CT with contrast to find a lymphnode large enough to biopsy. I'm now on a 2 week wait for the NHS haematology team, the surgical team are having a meeting tomorrow to discuss my case with haematology. I'm having bloods again on Monday, so hopefully will have a plan of action next week.

    thank you for your reply!
