Biopsy of the lining of womb

Hi. I so so scared! I’m 47 and been in perimenopause past 4 years or so, started with bleeds every 5 months before a 4 day bleed. Not heavy at all. , then 3 months no bleed, then bled, then again 6 months no bleed, then I bed, then hadn’t bled for over a year so thinking might be in post menopause. Past 8 months though I’ve had bled 3 monthly intervals , which seemed heavier. I have a 54mm fibroid, just had a internal scan done to check fibroid, and they were concerned as the lining of my womb is thick , around 10.9mm thick, so my doctor has just referred me to a one stop gynae clinic to get a biopsy done and I’m so so scared. I’ve heard a lot about how much it hurts, and I suffer bad anxiety I know I’m going to be shaking and crying with worry on the way to hospital, I’m waiting for this two week urgent referral at the moment, making me worry.! Is this procedure really so so painful than giving birth? I’m so bad with any type of tummy and womb cramps. I fear pain and worried I’ll pass out or be sick.

  • I had this procedure on Tuesday and it really isn't anything to worry about pain wise. It's more uncomfortable than anything but only takes a few seconds for the actual biopsy to be taken. I didn't know i was getting it till i had the appointment so i had no time to think about it which was probably for the best. I hope you can relax about the procedure and your biopsy will be clear. Wishing you good health.

  • Morning,

i had the same procedure 2 weeks ago today.

really is nothing to be worried about. Honestly it just feels like period cramping and its over quicker than i thought .

please dont worry you'll be fine x
