urgent! as soo worried.

a couple of days ago my armpit felt sore. almost like what a stiff muscle feels like i think? i felt it and there's like a very small (raisin sized and shaped) lump. it's painful, not very big at all as i say, i can't workout whether it rolls or anything when i rub it as i'm not sure if it's the lump rolling or just my skin? if you understand?

i always rest my bra on that bit and also a bandeau top as i prefer them to vest tops..tha bandeau top is elastic and i wear them every day regardless. i sweat a lot so there's a red crease in my armpit where my clothes sit. the little lump is below the skin and showed more when i shaved it and it went down again within a couple of hours. everytime i've read, i've read the worst! i've also read that hormonal changes can cause them and i'm due on in a few days. i know everyone's probably going to say 'get it checked at the docs' which is a good idea but i struggle with really bad anxiety and i also don't want to make a fuss over nothing. i'm only 19! is there more chance of this being something that isn't serious? please help

  • Hi, I've been going through a similar thing!
I think if you're worried just call the GP more than likely they'll ask for a picture( if your doctors do online appointments like mine does) and they'll be able to tell you more of what it is and what to do!
the fact it's painful kind of tells me it's just irritation and will go away but obviously I'm not qualified! I also have anxiety especially when it comes to things like this but trust me as soon as you call the doctor/ get answers you'll be so relieved you just did it!

    Hope all goes well! X

  • what did yours come back as? x

  • it's not actually sticking up. it did when i shaved, i could feel it with the towel but then it went down again

    Hi Fudge,

I am not a doctor, just a breast cancer pilgrim. It is unusual to get cancer at your age, but sadly not impossible. The only way to put your mind at rest is to see your GP to get this checked out. You certainly won't be making a fuss over nothing. You may find that you will get a phone consultation at first, but your GP can still see you if s/he thinks it necessary.

I do hope that this turns out to be of no consequence, but please get it checked out. Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • i've been reading that it's more worrying if there's no pain and it doesn't move. i feel like mine did move as it shown up more after shaving and went back down. i tore the muscle and also snapped my collarbone on the same side a few years ago, and the pain i'm getting was like the back end of the pain i felt then. is there much chance of it being anything serious? thanks x

    Hi Fudge,

I wish that I could say that there's nothing to be concerned about, but I am not a doctor. You are right that most breast cancers are not accompanied by pain and the lumps are fixed and jagged at the edges. However, there is always the exception to every rule and, you would do well to ensure that all is well. It is not unusual to have pain in joint/soft tissues long after they have been broken or damaged, so here's hoping that this is the cause.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • the lump is like raisin shaped. but it isn't raised, it was yesterday after i shaved but it went back down after a couple of hours. i do suffer with yeast infections and was wondering if that's a part of what could be lymph nodes swelling? i do wear tight clothing too which probably doesn't help

  •

    Hi Fudge,

As far as I'm aware any infection can cause a lymph node to swell. It could possibly be hormal too, but this is only guessing. You'd be far better off phoning your GP tomorrow and getting it checked out.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi.

the lump is still there and it's painful when you press on it. i don't want to go to the doctors yet as i've read that lymph nodes can take a couple of weeks to go down. i suffer with yeast infections a lot, do you think this could be the case? what's the chance of it being cancer at my age? i do suffer with pcos.

    Hi Fudge,

You would be as well seeing the GP sooner rather than later, if you think that it could be reactive. If your GP sees you now, s/he would possibly see you in a few weeks time to compare the difference. Sadly, it is still possible for someone of your age to have cancer, although it is rarer than in older age groups.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
