21 weeks-found a lump

Hi I'm 20+4 weeks and found a lump a couple of days ago. It is just a bit higher up than my areola in the top middle part of my breast. It's quite deep in the tissue, small, round and when I push it, it moves to the side a little. I have been to see the GP who said it was like a 'pea'. She has reffered me to the breast clinic, but didn't seem overly concerned (I know they can hide it though). I'm a massive worrier and just cried as soon as I felt it, thoughts like 'I'll never see my daughter grow up' flooded my mind and it's all I can think about. I'm 23 years old with no close family history of cancer.

Has anyone else had a lump like this? What did it turn out to be? I'm trying to reassure my mind but these two weeks are going to be riddled with anxiety.

  • Hi Worrier97,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I know these things can seem really worrying and it will be natural to continue to worry until you can get some answers about this.

It's good to hear you have a referral as this means you should know more soon. More often than not there turns out to be another explanation but the best thing is to sit tight and wait for the appointment, and try to keep your mind off things in the meantime by keeping busy as much as possible.

If you'd like an idea of what to expect at the clinic, please take a look here.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
