Hi,
I have tried to post on this forum about two weeks ago but I've had no responses :( some seem to get missed on here and I think it can sometimes be down to the title so trying to post again with a clearer title.
To cut a long story short I've had an enlarged lymph node under my neck/chin on the left side for four years now. Docs felt it two years ago and didn't think there was any cause for concern as I had no other symptoms/it wasn't changing in size. Since then I've had another node come up on the side of my neck (left side again) which has been there for just over a year. It's been getting larger over time and the original one under my chin has gotten bigger too but because they weren't bothering me I've not had them checked. That was until a couple weeks ago I thought I'd treat myself to a glass of gin - straight after drinking it I got pain in the nodes. Thought this was perculiar so googled it and obviously all you find is worse case scenario!!
I called the docs after this happened and they got me into have a feel of my neck, they confirmed they are definitely lymph nodes and mentioned the one on the side of my neck was weird because it's usually linked to scalp issues/scalp drainage? But I've never had any issues with my scalp. I've been told to wait 6 weeks and if the one on the side of my neck is still there I have to book in for blood tests. I'm not sure why I'm having to wait so long when it's already been there for over a year and the original one four years... they didn't ask me any questions and didn't even acknowledge the pain when drinking gin which is what motivated me to call in the first place. I've since tried drinking gin again and had the same reaction. I can now also feel a third lump coming up just above the one on the side of my neck.
I'm trying my best not to think about it and I know the odds are technically in my favour as usually most lymph node issues turn out to be nothing sinister, but I'm just scared that if it is anything it's been left for a long time.
Has anyone ever had similar symptoms and it turned out to be nothing? I've never had issues drinking gin/alcohol before and find this really perculiar. Im 25 yo female.
Thanks x
