Hi. I went for a mammogram and they found absolutely nothing. I then had a ultrasound where he was blabbering on about slight changes to tissue? But nothing remotely to worry about.

So, he told me it would probably be best if I went home and came back 11 weeks later. 

I challenged him and told him about cancer rates in my family. Even though I told the doctors, the specialist who gave me a physical exam, but here I was again.. Standing my ground. I even lied to the guy and made up more family members who had breast cancer. Was that right? No of course it wasn't.

He looked at his assistant and murmured something about me being an anxious lady, 42.so ill do this so it will put her mind and rest and show her there is nothing serious at all. 

"OK, I'm going to give you a biopsy now"

It didn't hurt, kinda like staple gun. 

He took samples from both and I went home. 

I went back for my results and I was the last one in, just my luck. 

Sat down and

"I'm so sorry to tell you but you have breast cancer. Ductral Carcinoma in situ... You have a area a little smaller than your breast and its all cancer. The cancer is in the milk ducts and thankfully its still contained but the area is very large. You have cell changes in your right breast.

You will have to have a Mastectomy. "

My next visit I said

" OK, get rid of them both. I'm having implants afterwards to may as well have them the same size.

After a few months whilst having my balloons filled at hospital a doctor came to see me and not my usual one he said, normally with DCIS, it's a lumoectomy or watch and wait or in severe cases, Mastectomy. We looked at your tissue and your cells were High Grade Necrosing... (sorry, forgot) anyway meaning that the cancer cells were the bad ones and if they escaped I would have been in some trouble. The cells die very fast, divide, die,. Some women can have very slow growing cells so are put on watch and wait.

So he said that, this isn't the way we do things but we think you need about 6 wks of daily radiotherapy. Apparently it's never done whilst having the balloon ports in place because the radiotherapy shrinks the skin and they end up different sizes etc. I had had about 6 lymph nodes removed in surgery all were clear. 

His words were

We think you should have it, there could have been teeny tiny micro organisms floated off in the blood. 

I said, will it work then?

He replied 

I don't know to be honest!

What the hell did that mean???

Sorry I've written a novel here haven't I and gone off on a right tangent. Apologies. 

Your mass could be fibroids. My friend went through the same thing. She was terrified, until she realised her health wasn't compromised. 

Also... My breasts were filled with cycsts.chain link or something. I had already been going for 6 months prior because of cysts. 

So my mammo was clear. You said a large dark mass. Let me tell you sweetie, I know it's scary, waiting for any kind of results is the worst, I've always said that. 

It could also be cysts, fibroids. No lump is a good sign, you don't want lumps. So this is extremely hopefully nothing to do with anything serious. 

And if it was, you would not be left waiting. So, in that instance I'm glad I told some lies. I am rooting for you a great result.
