Biopsy results

I had my biopsy done for cervical cancer on the 1st of February. The consultant who conducted it said I would receive a letter within 2 weeks and if I have queries to speak to my GP. My GP that I had pre cancerous cells and to wait for treatment,  I then ring the colopscopy dept to chase up the date to talk about the treatment, only to find out that the biopsy result has not come back and that no treatment has been decided.  I'm annoyed that my doctors was talking about the smear not the biopsy. I'm now on tender hooks that I have to wait for any sort of results... sorry i know this sounds trivial but I feel anxious.  How long has everyone waited for the biopsy results to come back..

  • Hello Jojolou12,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It is normal to feel anxious as you are waiting for these important biopsy results and I hope you won't have to wait too long to find out more.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their experience of waiting for biopsy results.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
