  • Well hi and welcome ...

Maybe more lasses but we do have a few lads too ... so your not alone ...

My cousin had breast cancer ... very rare for lads, but it does happen ... he felt a bit imbarased at first ... but me and his mum had breast cancer the year before .. so we held him up ... that was 3 years ago ... and wer all still here ... and remember 8.5 out of ten lumps are benign... so try not to panic yet ...

Treatments have come a long way .. so hold on in there ... it's a rollercoaster ride , but doable... fingers crossed your be o.k ... let us know how you go ... by the way .. #telemando is often on ... I'll know he'll pop by if he gets this ... another male is always good ... let us know how you go ... so we can either give you a high 5 or a hand to help you through ....Chrissie.... x

  • Thanks much appreciated i will keep you updated and thanks for the support

  • Hello Kelvyp

I can see that Jolamine has already popped along to say Hello and offer you some support ahead of your appointment tomorrow. As she's mentioned, the majority of people who attend breast clinic aren't diagnosed with cancer, and breast cancer in men is rare but you've done absolutely the right thing in seeing your GP to get it checked.

We do have some information on our website here which may be of help. It's likely at the appointment tomorrow you'll be examined by the Consultant and then they may decide to do an ultrasound of the breast and armpit area. Sometimes the Radiologist may want to biopsy the lump but if this is the case you'll be given a local anaesthetic so you won't feel anything.

Hopefully your appointment tomorrow will be straightforward and they will be able to give you some information and reassurance there and then.

Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi there,

how old are you? Any family history? Just to send some positivity your way most lumps in the breast aren't cancer, my GP described a breast lump as the feeling of a hard rock / toy car in the breast it will feel irregular. That being said my breasts have a lot of glandular tissue & it all feels quite lumpy and bumpy! But examining yourself regularly after your appointment will help you keep a good idea of what's normal for you :)

I actually had a breast clinic appointment yesterday it's a one stop clinic which is awesome because you'll get a good idea of what it is on the day hopefully :)

you'll be seen by a consultant who will mark where your lump is and give you a bit of an idea of what they think it could be. They'll send you over for An ultrasound where a probe is placed over your breast area and armpit area and they'll check for anything abnormal. 9/10 times it's all normal! Then if they find nothing you can go home from There, otherwise you may need to go back to the consultant who saw you first & they will explain whatever it is the radiologist saw, the radiologist may be nice and put your mind at ease whilst it's all happening too. This was my 3rd time at breast clinic and it was scary the first two times!! But I'm glad you're going & getting it seen to

hopefully it's benign! You'll be in my thoughts! I hope it all goes well for you, please keep us updated :)
