Hi
so recently my sister had been quite poorly, and after some x rays they told her she had a "shadow" on her lung that needs further testing, once she's had a few more CT scans ( 3 ) they got her an appointment to come in to see the consultant and told her to bring somebody, what is not normal especially during these times, in the room there was a McMillan nurse, another nurse and a doctor, ( the consultant) . They told her they are thinking what they've found on her lung could possibly lung cancer and booked her in for a pet scan, and to have her bloods taken. She had the pet scan and they said they've found "activity around her breast and lymph nodes, and booked her into the breast clinic. She had an ultra sound and they said everything was ok in the breasts, but her lymph nodes was "plump" so they've taken a biopsy and those results will be bck next week. and the lump they've found on the lung seem to have slightly shrunk it's self since the past CT scan, so they are monitoring this and will re scan her in the next couple of months,
Whilst she spoke to the breast specialist they've told her she has nothing to worry about as the breast was clear, she is now thinking that she has absoutley nothing wrong with her.
I'm absoutley confused by this, it's been a rollercoaster of emotions but for me personally it doesn't sit right. Do you think the doctor has got this wrong? Why assign her a McMillan doctor if they aren't 100 percent it is cancer? Obviously they can't say for definitely as they've not taken any biopsy from the lung, but they obviously have seen something to think it's cancerous? Can anyone help me give me advice or any similar story's?
I am going to get her to demand a second opinion.
