Yesterday, just a week after a CT scan I was seen by Gynae Oncology consultant and a Macmillan nurse who has been allocated to me. I was told that I have a complex ovarian cyst measuring approx 7cm x 5cm.x7cm. . I have been referred for a total hysterectomy at a hospital on the mainland ( I live on the Isle if Wight) and that it would be done in 4 to 6 weeks
This seems quite extreme and I wonder if my age (71) has anything to do with it. Should I go ahead as it seems that they won't simply do a biopsy or remove the cyst or even just the affected ovary? My only other alternative is to have it monitored by further CT scans at intervals
