Recurrent UTIs

Hi,

I am desperately after some advice i have been under a urology consultant for a few years now and have been diagnosed with hydronephrosis. Over the past 5 months I have had loads of time of work with recurrent kidney infections that all seem to match up with my periods. Before this I just focused on the water infections but as they are now so often I have noticed a pattern. I have always suffered with horrific periods even in school I would pass out and get horrific cramps. Sex is also painful and I avoid it most of the time.  Everytjme I have an infection doctors are quick to throw antibiotics at me without seeing me and I am feeling really fobbed off. This is now effecting my work, my marriage, my home life and my mental health  but drs don't seem interested.

Any advice please

  • Hi, I have been in a similar situation with UTI's last year I suffered with at least 7 infections, I had no idea why I kept getting them, I was referred to a urologist and he said my kidneys and bladder etc were fine and suggested perhaps it was due to hormones! He told me he'd write to my gp for more gyno scans etc as he was confident my infections were down to imbalance. I have PCOS and I take medication to start a bleed each month and I noticed each time I took the extra hormones I'd then get an infection.

i hope this will give you more of an idea of what you could possibly explore next with your doctor.
