Abnormality in spleen

Hi

For the past 4 months I have been having upper abdomen discomfort. I have night sweats (menopause?)'ve had blood tests and an  ultrasound all normal. I had a FIT test which was abnormal followed by colonoscopy which showed slight haemarroids.

My left ribs and side is now painful. The GP passed me to the practice nurse who said they had done about everything. I asked for a CT and was told referral to a consultant would take a long time even if I could get an appointment as I have no red flags. So I paid to see one, had a CT and they have found an abnormality in my spleen 20mm. He also considered my night sweats, dismissed by GP, and mentioned lymphoma.

I have to have an MRI now and gastroscopy.

I am so worried. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Thank you

  • Hi. Yours experience sounds similar to mine. Although they found a splenic cyst in the US. I paid to have private CT too and they can't see it on there and can 'confirm there is no splenic cyst'. I don't understand how it can be seen on Ultrasound and then not on CT scan.

I have had night sweats for 3 years (I'm only 33) and have probably seen about 8 drs about then. They put them down to anxiety.

I too have pain in my left hand side behind rib cage that radiates to the back. I've lost about 1.5stine and can't eat but everyone says it's juts worry.

I can totally relate to your situation I am worried out of my mind and cannot seem to find answers.

  • Thanks for your reply.

I hope you can get some answers soon.

The consultant told me the abnormality wasn't a cyst and the radiologist said it was indeterminate hence the MRI.

It's just so difficult carrying on with life when you are so worried, which I have read is not good for the spleen!

    Take care
