Polyps removed and I’m still bleeding wow

Hi on November 4th 2020. I had my outpatient appointment to have what I was told was 2polyps removed under general anaesthesia I think that's the word anyway all went well when I came out of. Recovery surgeon came to me and said I actually had. Quiet a few polyps not just two as told prior anyway he said don't worry we managed to get them all and not to worry recovery is usually two weeks nurse told me to rest and take painkillers if nessesary  anyway was fine first week or two bleeding got heavy I ended up in A and E as clotting was very large and bleeding heavy then they gave me transexamic acid to take slow bleeding down which it did but now 3months later I'm still bleeding only break I've had is a week so f no bleeding that's the longest and otherwise I'm only off for no less then 4 to 5 days I'm so drained I'm already suffering from anemia so that don't help my situation to make me feel better the go said because I had quiet a few removed that I should expect to feel the way I do and bleed for a while as usually people have alone or two and I had a lot and that my womb has been manipulated so my hormones are all over the place and to expect that and it will get better but I'm just so annoyed that it's taken so long  biopsy came back as no abnormalities found that's good but what should I do I'm just currently waiting and taking these pills and I really don't want to reply on them to be honest any advice will be greatly appreciated

  • Hello UniqueClaire46

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with continued bleeding after your recent biopsies. It's understandable that you're feeling frustrated and tired.

I'm sure that it was a relief to hear that there were no abnormalities found in the biopsies and hopefully things will settle but in the meantime please do get back in touch with your GP and let them know how you're feeling. They will be best placed to help you with this and if things don't settle they can arrange any appropriate appointments.

I do hope that things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Thanks jenn I do keep my doctors updated they only said they will send me for a blood test to see if my iron level has dropped which I'm sure it has and also asked if inhale any abdominal pain or swelling which I don't I get very minor cramps sometimes not always but before my operation my period pain used to be excruciating so that's a bonus  I do just hope things get back to normal for me soon thanks a lot .

  • Thank you so much I've been trying to get an appointment with my go to discuss this ongoing issue and now they say on the phone that they are only dealing with emergencies and that if it's life threatening then they can arrange n appointment for a call back with the go otherwise I have to wait  so I'm torn I think it's serious as I'm already anemic and now I'm getting a bit short of breath when I run up the stairs  feel so drained  iron pills are making me feel very sick so I can only handle one a day from three

  • Just wondering how things are Jenn being as we been in this pandemic which has basically shut all types of business down so it's extremely difficult to see anyone concerning health matters but if you have a update at all l would be grateful kind regards

  • Hi
I'm going through the same thing, all polyps was benign, this is 2nd time of having polyps removed but this time so much different, still heavy bleeding, lots of clots and lots of pain.
I go anaemic and feel so low,

I have to take Ferrous sulfate ,  also Lansoprazole , Mefenamic acid, & Tranexamic acid, but have side affect to one or all of these tablets, so had to stop, I believe the next step will be an hysterectomy, as I have family history of hysterectomy, but back then polyps was not even through about, so really polyps are to our family something new,

I know doctors are trying not to do hysterectomy like there used to, but trying to do there best to try and sort out problems before that, good job really as like my family I would have had one in my late 30s.
but keep going to doctors explain ( like I should really) but as normal we all believe we should not be bothering the doctors with what we believe to be a normal woman's problem, we all need to be more vocal, say I need help, hopefully that helps alittle as it's alway good to know your not alone, until I read your post, I believe I was only one going through this
