Dimpling left breast

Hi, I am writing for a little information really if anybody can help.

I found dimples in my breast when lifting my arm a few days ago, gp has referred me (urgently) to the breast clinic.

GP adivsed if I have not receieved any correspondence from the breast clinic within the next 2-3 weeks to recontact her and she will follow it up. Due to the length of time, I have booked a private appt with a consultant of which is within the next five days.

I am a litte worried as I have read the breast clinic are very supportive and have nurses etc that support you through the process of investigations etc, and I may not recieve the same support if I go private. I am preying the dimpling is nothing to worry about however I am very anxious and scared of what maybe the outcome.  I just feel I cannot think properly and this waiting is awful.  I am uncertain whether to wait for the breast clinic or go to the private consultation.

I also have a very busy and pressured job, I have been on annual leave for a week and the thorugh of going back to work makes me feel very worried as I just cannot think properly at the moment.

Thanks Den2

  • Hello Den and welcome to the forum.

We have a lot of members that have been through this process via private healthcare and NHS referral so hopefully some of them will share their experiences and advice with you soon.

If you'd like to talk through your options with one of our cancer nurses, you're welcome to give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Fingers crossed the dimpling is no cause for concern.
