Why wasn’t I you’ve given a diagnosis after core biopsy?

Hi, I'm 25 years old and my mind's been plagued by the lump that randomly appeared on my breast a few months ago.

I had a core biopsy done on my first hospital visit and it came out benign. But the doctor also said he wasn't sure what was wrong with me. I thought a core biopsy would be able to tell what exactly the problem is? He injected me twice that day and it was so terrifying.

edit: god I butchered that title

Does anyone have any idea what this could mean? Is it bad that I didn't receive a formal diagnosis?

  • Hi goldenswan,

Unfortunately it's hard to advise on this as it's typically only your doctor who can do this. If you feel you have unresolved problems/symptoms, then it's best to make another appointment to discuss this and get the answers you need. It sounds as if the biopsy has given you a good result, but as I say if there are ongoing issues then it's best to speak to your doctor about this.

If you'd like to talk anything through with our nurses about this, you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

    Wishing you all the best,
