Hiya
I initially found a lump late October in right boob. Didn't initially panic (as I've been down this road before) and decided to watch and wait to make sure it wasn't anything hormonal and changeable.
Week past Saturday I had a pamper night and realised I could see the lump from outside breast when I moved in the light, so decided to make the appointment. Again the GP was concerned and I seen the local surgeon within a week! Amazing service as always.
Now the wait, although it's an urgent referal I imagine it will take a few weeks longer than normal due to COVID. They said potentially 6wks. I need to travel off island today mainland Scotland hospital so depending on so many factors it may be a wee while.
I had a lump before - 6 years ago at 36! I panicked but it was a very different feeling and different positioning. Last time it was odd bean shaped and thick deep in tissue. thankfully it was fiberous dense breast.
This time it's very different..6yrs on I'm now in the "right" age group the surgeon said... and the only way I can describe it is like a piece of "gravel" or like a stone that gets in your shoe.. it's under my skin/attached to the breast tissue inside. "Tethered" she said. It feels fairly oddd shaped & solid.
Last time I went into total panic mode, my boys were only 7&9... it was horrid! So really Trying to remain as calm as possible but it does get hard at times. Don't really want to tell anyone as I don't want to be a pest and drama queen. Glad my boys are bigger now. My worry is less due to this I guess.
Lost my mum in October to renal cancer (although it was pneumonia that took her in the end!) feel fairly lost not being able to tell her, she would have kept me calm and organised.
Nice to share these musing with others who understand.
