Hi Sarah I know how scary this is for you, 20 years ago I had (what they called at the time) 'moderate abnormal cells' removed- and no issues since I may add.

My eldest daughter is 26 she had her 2nd abnormal smear last month (because her first a year ago was abnormal they wanted to repeat in 12months) and her colposcopy is next week. If they are happy for you to wait until September it would suggest they are pretty un concerned about what they found. Mind we they had us believe they were unconcerned about my daughter's but she has had no real wait at all, I am hoping she has been bumped because technically its been over a year and there is a strong family history of cancers.

Please try not to worry too much, if it was urgent they absolutely would find an appointment for much sooner. 

Our local hospital is one of the busiest in London with covid too so I know it's true.  I also know it's easy for me to say try not to worry and that you will, its natural, but at least try not to let it consume you.

I'm terrified at the moment for me and my daughter as we both go through very different worries, I know about hers but daren't burden my family with mine.

Good luck, and remember you can go back to your GP any time and if anything changes they can request you to be seen more urgently. Xx

Thanks so much for the reply. Yes, this is what I've been told. I only have boarderline changes, which is apparently very common and may just clear up on their own. I hope all is well with your daughter. Very tricky times for everyone atm.
