Hello, I'm sorry if this is jumping to conclusions or silly to even be considering. I've had persistent ear pain in my right ear for a year this month, I've had numerous courses of antibiotics, nasal spray, been to the dentist the first time it occurred and had x-rays and all was fine. At first I was told I had an outta ear infection and my canal had swollen shut, I was given ear spray and this seemed to help slightly but only for a short period of time ( week ) to which the pain came back.
to cut a long story short I've seen an ENT who 'drained' my ears but I still have the same symptoms, ear ache sometimes very severe, I've been sick with it I've had bad headaches on that side when I've been having a bad day with the ear pain. Sometimes I feel a lot of pressure in my ear as if it needs to 'pop' which I can hold my nose and blow/swallow which gives me a second or two of relief but that's it. I also have a lot of tension/pressure sometimes in my neck/face/head.
I saw my doctor again the other day who has looked in my ears but can't find any infection of any kind, he also looked in my mouth and said he could see an 'abnormal' growth at the back of my mouth, that's when he said about referring me to the Maxillofacial team at the hospital on the 2 week referral scheme. He mentioned cancer and said that could possibly be the cause but said not to worry as it's probably not. I have my appointment on Monday but I'm very anxious waiting. Not sure what to expect at the appointment etc. Any help advice greatly appreciated.
I should also probably point out that I'm only 23 so although not impossible I know this sort of cancer is uncommon in someone of my age. I feel silly for even posting!
thank you xx
