I am 42, I have a VERY strong family history of Cancer, (8 aunts and uncles and 3 grandparents)
My brother was diagnosed with colorectal cancer at 46. He is OK and has recovered. A 2nd brother had cancerous polyps removed at 46 and more benign polyps removed at 47
Recently I spoke to my gp about my constant fatigue, low back pain, lack of libido etc... And he organised blood tests thinking I had a thyroid issue. All seemed OK except the CRP which came back abnormal (elevated suggesting inflammation) We chatted more about my bowel habits and did the FIT test. GP called me to say the result indicated significant bleeding in to the bowel so referring me urgently for CT and or scope.
Normally I would turn to my family but I am just too scared to worry them about this, not sure my poor mum could handle another child with this *** disease, especially since I am self employed, rent my home and if my income is affected I am screwed.
Whilst I know it doesn't mean I do have cancer, the GP did say whilst hopefully it isn't, at least we are catching it early. I now have an agonising wait for the appointment, test then results etc... With literally no one to talk to.
Not sure the point of this post but I need to get it out somewhere, not even sure how to use the forum or if I'm posting in the right place.
