Sarcoma Question

Hi Everyone,

I discovered a lump on my leg last April below my knee.  I went straight to the doctor who diagnosed it as a lipoma through touch.  I have since got a second lump show further down my leg near my ankle.

I went back to a different doctor today whos not convinced they're lipoma.  He has said as I have already had one lump 9 months and that ones not changed the chances of it being sarcoma is slim, however theres a slight possibilty.  He did say sarcomas grow fast and id know about it by now if it was one as id most likely have lost my leg after all this time.  Despite his reassurance I am still really panicked as I have read sarcoma's can grow slow?  How quick can this cancer spread?

He has refered me for a scan to see what the mass is but on a normal wait time (12+weeks).  He did say if he were more worried he would refer me quicker however he doesnt feel thats needed.  I cant help but panick about the long wait.

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling concerned about these growths that you've noticed on your leg. It sounds positive that your GP isn't overly concerned about things but it seems sensible to get it checked out.

We know that many of our members will understand how difficult this period of waiting for tests and answers can be. Although often easier said than done, try to keep busy, avoid searching Google for information and take each day as it comes.

I do hope that you have some news and reassurance soon.

    Best wishes,
