Waiting for Biopsy results

Hi guys

I'm 31 years old, found a lump went to the doctors, the doctor referred me to the brest clinic, the did scans and biopsy there and then, this we a week ago today, I get my results Friday im so nervous really struggling with the wait, was everybody else like this?

Thanks Rebecca xxx

  • Hi Rebecca

Totally understand how you feel. I'm terrified!! I had a wide local vulva excision on the 25th of January (last month) from finally telling the Dr to seeing a Consultant and having the operation it was less than a month. I've had the lesions etc for 12yrs and because of the embarrassment and I hoped they would go away and tried to put it out of my head. The Dr straight away said it was VIN which is a pre cancerous condition. I never had a biopsy but the consultant ordered an urgent excision. I am now waiting for the results, it's been 10 days but the longer it's been the anxiety is worse. I hope all will be OK with you lol I won't say try not to worry because it's so hard not to. Sending you big hugs!!

  • Hiya, sorry can I ask what your lesions look like? I'm currently waiting for breast biopsy results, but have also developed some dark areas in my lady area, but the drswont see me as I ha d a baby I August, and they said it will be bruising, despite me having a csection

  • I'm 33,getting my results on the 11th.even though everyone could feel my lumpin my boob, it didn't show on the ultrasound. I'm terrified!

  • Hi nikki

Mine is on the right breast above the nipple area, you only have to brush your hand across my boob and you can feel it as its that big, you can't see it tho, hope this helps, when are you due your results? Xxx

  • Hi tal,

Its so scary isn't it, I cant even remember anything they said after biopsy, it really took the wind out of me, but they could see something they didn't like on the ultrasound hence biopsy, its really hard keeping your self together for this long wait isn't it, my results are tomorrow I have waited 9 days, big hugs

  • Hi, mine is on the left breast, slightly above my nipple, under the areola. You can also feel mine, which is rock hard and irregular shape and edges, but can't be seen with naked eye. U/s showed nothing, so consultant has said its suspicious, had a core biopsy, but because of the US not picking it up, it was done "blind",and she said she can't be certain that the biopsies she removed were actually from the lump. I've also been told by her that there is a link between bowel cancer and breast cancer, which my younger brother is fighting stage four. My results are on the 11th Feb, the appointment letter was sent the same day I had the biopsies. I also received another letter yesterday, a copy of the letter sent to my gp, which explained the lump looks suspicious, but due to being invisible on the US, of the results come back benign, we have to accept that diagnosis. Which is fine, normally I would no problem, but as she was unsure she had gotten the actual lump, I feel furthur action should be taken, to be on the safe side?!

Both her and the other consultant have said that any of the other causes of breast lesions would appear on ultrasound, so adenoma or thickening of fatty tissues, or glandular tissues or even cysts would all show easily on the US as its not deep at all. I felt no pain when having the injection of the anaesthetic, despite the Dr saying it would be painful and sting. Also, if anyone touched that Area of breast, I'm aware of it, but also feels numb, of that makes sense? So I had a csection in August, and still have slight numbness directly around the scar, I can feel the skin and know I'm touching it, but I could pop a pin into the skin and not feel anything, and the same sort of thing with the area around the nipple. Whilst most lumps etc are obvs benign, I'm just concerned that nothing is showing!

  • I don't have any pain and basically same as you said, can't really feel anything in the lump, just aware of it, if it is still worrying you I would definitely ask for a second opinion even if it is for peace of mind,  do you have small children too? I have a 8 year old and 3 year old, prying for good news tomorrow for them two xxxx

  • Yes, I have three, a twelve year old, a ten year old and a five month old. I hope for both of us it's good news, please let me know how you get on tomorrow, fingers crossed for you xx
