Abnormal Bleeding

Hi,

I have been having really heavy abnormal bleeding it's really heavy in the mornings then dies down and can go away for a couple of days and then it returns this has been going on for months. (I am on contraception that stops my periods and it has worked fine for years for me). I went last week for my smear however I couldn't have it as there was just too much blood the nurse couldn't get a swab, I'm going back this afternoon for them to re attempt however I'm bleeding again so heavily so I know it won't be able to be done and don't know what will happen next. It's so worrying and I've convinced myself I must have cervical cancer after reading about the causes of random bleeding.
I did only just have my daughter 8 months ago so I'm hoping that it's something birth related but it's so hard to not worry.

any advice? Or has anyone been in a similar position.
