Cysts on thyroid/ swollen lymph nodes

Hi, im a 25 yr old female

ive been having a sore throat/ swollen tonsil/ and lumps inside my mouth since the beginning of last year. After a few visits to the doctors (multipul antibiotics didnt work to get rid of it) she felt my neck and found a swollen lymph node in my neck/jaw and a large lump that is just above my collarbone/ base of neck, i eventualy got her to send me for a ultrasound  but ive now been told i have a cyst on my thyroid and im waiting for a hospital app. I also have found swollen lymph nodes by my groin/ and one under my arm pit. Has anybody else had this and could give me some advise or just anything really as I've been worrying myself sick for too long waiting around now. Thank you.

  • Hi Lisa,

Sorry that you're having some problems at the minute but I'm glad you've found your way onto this page. I've found the forum really useful.

I have several nodules on my thyroid; 3cm, 2.6cm and 1.6cm. Mine came back indeterminate which means they don't know whether or not it's cancer so I'm waiting for surgery to remove the large one. The others have grown from the last time I saw the ENT team before lockdown though (used to be 2.7cm, 1.1cm and 1cm) so maybe they'll change the plan.

It's very unlikely to be cancer apparently and even when it is cancer, thyroid is one of the really slow growing ones.
I think cysts tend to come back benign so that's really positive. I know it doesn't stop the worry completely but honestly, chances are in your favour that all is well :)

Hope you hear back soon x
