Lump on left side of clavicle!

Hi I'm new to this forum and was wondering if anyone has any advice! A few weeks ago I found a lump that move around on the left side of my clavicle and is tender to touch! Today I plucked up courage to call my GP bit they're closed! Typical I know!

In 2016 I was diagnosed with DCIS and two weeks later was in to have a mastectomy, I'm trying not think down that line but can't help it sometimes!
any advice would be greatly appreciated

  • Hello Amandap and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry you weren't able to get through to your doctor but do try again when they're next open as they're the only ones who will be able to tell you whether this is any cause for concern. Hopefully that won't be the case but it's always good to get any unusual symptoms checked out.

We do get quite a lot of posts about lumps in this area so I'm sure some of our members who have been in a similar situation will pop by soon to offer their support and advice.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Thank you so much for replying so promptly Steph, I intend to try again tomorrow, fingers crossed it's nothing! kind regards

  • Hi Amanda!

im glad I had a quick browse and saw your post! It's great you are alerting your doctor of this lump.
I have recently been to the breast cancer nurse as I have a lot of squishy bumps in my boobies at the moment anyways - I have also got a little lump in my left clavicle in the hollow between the clavicle and the neck. It is a lymph node. It is smaller than half a cm - it was measured at 3.5/4mm I was told when having a scan on it (I've had two it's been here for a year) that the size is fine and unless it was fixed and bigger than 1CM they won't investigate it any further - it has not grown. This was confirmed to me by the breast cancer nurse as I was worried it was linked as I also have a couple of lymph nodes in my armpit the same side.

the fact yours is tender is more suggestive of a cyst or a lymph node from an infection as nodes due to cancer tend to be (not always but from what I've researched) be completely painless.

it could also be a fatty lump or lipoma

I hope you get good answers and reasureance from your doctor (obviously I'm not a doctor but I've been for several scans there and this is what I've been told and researched)

    all the best xxx

  • Hi Amanda,

just to let you know I have a lump on the side of my neck too. I had it ultrasounded last week and had my results back this week, it's measuring just u see a cm and I have been signed off with no further investigations required as it is a harmless lipoma. I hope this reassures you and good luck with your GP and any investigations they may undergo xx
