Gp found a lump and not sure what it means

Hi I'm Roslynn and I'm 18 and I've never posted to anything like this for anything but 2 days ago I went to the Gp and I had some aches in my left breast with some sharp pains occasionally and my left armpit felt like I'd pulled a muscle when I lifted it up, I usually have discomfort most of the time due to their size but all of a sudden it was more noticeable and started to actually hurt quite a bit.

When I went in and had the examination done the doctor found a lump in the left one and she's decided to refer me to the breast clinic. She said it's very unusual for someone my age to need to be referred but not to worry. I'm worried as breast cancer is very common in my family and a lot of them were in their late 20s. Because of their size I also cant find it myself and she never told me anything about the lump.

Any advice would be really helpful, I know it's rare for someone my age but I'm just worried about it, thanks x

  • Hello Roslynn,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long to be seen at the breast clinic. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting to be seen and to find out more.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
