Swelling found under left breast above rib cage

Hi I have had some tenderness at the top of my ribs under my left breast recently, and have just noticed a swelling at the top of my ribs.  I am 51 and thought some breast tenderness could be due to menapause.  My mum died of breast cancer so back of mind concerned but times are very difficult for GPS and hospital and don’t like to take up their precious time.  I have noticed quite a few posts about lumps and swellings in the same area, has anybody had any feedback or checkups for an idea of what this could be please?

  • Hi Doreenraven

All lumps should be seen by a GP, you won't be wasting anyone's time. I've had breast cancer and last year found a lump under my left breast, an ultrasound showed it to be a lipoma. I knew it was a lipoma as it was soft and movable but still went to my GP about it to make sure. So don't feel bad about getting it checked out.
