Scared I might have lympoma

Hi

About a month ago I noticed a small painless lump (around 1cm or under) on my neck which is easily movable, apart from that I'm completely fine health except from costochondritis which had gotten better. So anyway I went to see the doctor about it and they didn't seemed too bothered but still had me take a blood test. After a couple of days the results came back as everything normal however this Wednesday I woke up with pain in my chest and down the side of my ribs and found a new small slightly painful lump under my armpit on my ribs (about 4-5 mm I think) so I went back to the doctor who had a look and told me he has to talk to another doctor about it. I'm terrified and can't focus on anything at the moment and just feel like I'm on the edge of crying all the time. I'm only 20 and in my final year of uni so I really don't need this at the moment.

  • I'm currently in the same predicament and just wanted to compare how you feel generally. I'm also 20 with a lump under my armpit and in the groin area. I have been getting sharp chest pains (especially when bending over) for the past 3 months and they're central it's strange. Did the doctor get back to you ? Also I hope all goes well for you unfortunately doctors take longer than usual currently due to pandemic. My mum has been waiting 4 months for a scan for liver lesions (to see if it's cancer).

  • Hi I don't have sharp pain but I do have dull pain like it you have brushed something when I contract my chest but I was told this was costochondritis and after taking naproxen it has gotten better, do you do any sports as I think mine was triggered when I went climbing. I've spoken to the doctor and the said because my lumps aren't bigger than 1cm that they are negligible and the chance of them being something serious is really low but I'm still waiting to here back from my main GP as he is talking about it with another doctor to figure out what is best to do.

  • Hi no I don't do sports but I am thinking the chest pain could be strained muscles it's gone on for months so it less likely to be heart related and is likely muscular. I'm kind of waiting for the pandemic to simmer before I go to the gp. I measured my lumps and the armpit is approx 2.6cmx2cm and the groin one is more 1cm. I think lay off dr google and observe for now. I'm glad you have had some relief given to you. Hope the best for you

  • Hi lymph nodes in the groin are considered normal up to the size of 1.5cm so it is probably normal but if the one in your armpit doesn't go down in a couple of weeks I would see the GP just to make sure, there is no harm in being proactive and it being nothing than not caring and it being something serious. :)

  • Hey people!!!

just wanted to let everyone know I have about 4-6 palpable lymph nodes in my neck, two in one armpit and one in the other and a collarbone lymph node (the dodgy one) !!

I found mine at the end of 2019, I've had one MRI and 2 necks scans and 3 armpit scans and all have concluded they are fine - please don't let it take over your life. If you are young and slim they can naturally be felt often and they don't tend to worry about the ones that are smaller than 1cm in diameter so imagine the smallest length that has to be 1cm and if it moves/painful all good signs - good be a previous infection and not gone down or if could be just the way you are!!

It is great you are getting it checked - in the very small chance it's anything more than just a normal lymph node but please don't let lymph nodes consume you!!
