Ongoing Issues

Hi,

My 'issues' started over 2 years ago age 52, 8 months since my last period (thought I wasn heading to my 1 year anniversary of no periods) started bleeding really heavily.  Was sent for ultrasound (endo 13mm) and small ovarian cyst.  Presumed to be normal period.

Then in May 2020 (1.5 years since last period) started getting a bloody discharge (lasted a few days) sent for ultrasound (endo 15mm - thick for post menopausal) and small ovarian cyst.  Doctor said nothing to worry about as she took a biopsy (polyp) which came back normal.  Told her that the fact my endo is 15mm, and I am extremely bloated with lower pelvic pain I would like to be referred to gyno.  She sent referral and gyno referred for sonohysterography , due to covid this has still not come through.  Last week, I started bleeding again, went to ER and they sent message to gyno noting the bleeding in post menopasal woman and referred for ultrasound (appointment next Tuesday).  My gyno called next day following ER visit and has booked my in for hyteroscopy next Monday.

Been trying to put it to the back of my mind, but have felt for the past 2 years something is wrong (extreme bloating still present, pelvic ache, weight gain (no change in diet/exercise) in fact I put on 15 pounds in a 3 week period which the doctor said is also  not normal.

Hopefully will have some answers over the next few weeks!

  • Can I ask what test u have had I was sent for a virginal ultersound has I been having lighter periods and tummy pain

  • Hi Amanda

my ultrasound test was pelvic and transvaginal which showed thickening of edimetrial lining (15mm) this is apparently thick for post menopausal (should be 4-5mm). I also had a hysteroscopy in June and I have another one next week (this is a small camera that goes into Uterus through vagina) at which time they can also take 'samples' for biopsy.  I was scheduled a sonohysterography which hasn't come through yet (this is a different type which gives a clearer view of the uterus).

are you post menopausal also? Have you had results of ultrasound?
